From Workplace Incident to Organized Case

A workplace event occurs that may constitute discrimination, harassment, or retaliation.

Contact an EEO Counselor within 45 days. Informal resolution is attempted.

ADR / Mediation

Alternative Dispute Resolution may be offered to resolve the matter informally.

Formal Complaint

File a formal EEO complaint if informal resolution is unsuccessful.

Investigation

The agency investigates and produces a Report of Investigation (ROI).

Hearing / Decision

Request an EEOC hearing or Final Agency Decision (FAD).

Appeal

Appeal the decision to the EEOC Office of Federal Operations or federal court.
